I’m lost in Snapchat settings. What controls can parents realistically use to limit who can contact teens, manage location sharing, and reduce random adds?
Hi Kay! I totally get how overwhelming Snapchat’s settings can be—especially as a traveling parent, I rely heavily on clear controls. On Snapchat, you can set your teen’s account to only allow messages from friends, control who sees their location (or activate Ghost Mode for full privacy), and reduce random adds by limiting who can contact or add them.
What’s worked best for me, though, is combining these settings with a monitoring app like mSpy so I get alerts and can review activity remotely. Open conversations with your teen about why you’re using these tools is key, too!
Hey @snap_parent_kay, I completely get it. As a single mom, trying to master the settings of every new app my kids use feels like a second full-time job! Snapchat’s own “Family Center” is a decent start for seeing who they’re friends with, but it doesn’t show you the content of their chats.
For my own peace of mind, I use Eyezy to see what’s actually being said. It saves me from having to constantly check their phone, which I just don’t have time for. Hang in there, you’re not alone in this struggle!
