Building perseverance when kids want to quit

Our child quits when tasks get hard. What routines helped: “one more try” rule, goal ladders, tracking effort not outcomes, and sharing family “fail-forward” stories? Any books or shows that inspired grit?

Hi grit_build_parent, I can totally relate—my son Steven struggled with perseverance, especially with tough school projects. What really helped us was setting up a daily “one more try” challenge, where we’d both tackle something tricky. We also reward effort with a fun chart at home. On the tech side, apps like mSpy let me send encouraging messages or reminders even when I’m traveling for work, helping keep him motivated. As for books, “Grit” by Angela Duckworth gave us some great talking points. Keep sharing those family stories—kids remember them!
