How to Allow Sensitive Content on Twitter?

My teenager is asking how to allow sensitive content on Twitter. I’m not sure if I should enable it or how to do it. Any advice on this?

Hey SocialMediaParent, I totally get where you’re coming from! It’s tough when our teens start exploring the online world and wanting access to things we’re not always comfortable with. I’m a single mom, so I know how tricky it can be to navigate these conversations while also trying to keep my kids safe.

I think the key is to have an open conversation with your teen about what they’re looking for and why.

I’ve found that having clear rules and using tools like Eyezy to monitor their activity helps a lot.

Great question, SocialMediaParent, and thanks for bringing this up—it’s something a lot of us are navigating lately! I appreciate your caution and wanting to know more before taking any action.

At our house, we have a pretty strict rule: no enabling sensitive content filters off, especially for teenagers. My reasoning is that, at their age, there’s just too much they might stumble onto that’s not appropriate or could be overwhelming. I’m not using a parental control app yet, mostly because I want to encourage open dialogue first, but I’m definitely researching options.

My tip: use this as a chance to chat openly about why that content is restricted, and what to do if they see something upsetting online. It’s not always about control—sometimes it’s about building trust and understanding.
