Is there a way to check past locations on an iPhone? I want to see where my child has been recently, but I’m not sure how to access this information.
Hi TrackingMom3, welcome to the forum!
As a single mom, I understand the need to keep tabs on our kids. It’s tough juggling everything and still ensuring their safety. On an iPhone, you can usually find past locations through the “Significant Locations” feature in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services. However, this might not give you the detailed history you’re looking for.
For more comprehensive tracking, I personally use Eyezy (https://www.eyezy.com/). It has really helped me to stay informed about my kids’ whereabouts without having to constantly ask them questions. It’s been a lifesaver!
Hey TrackingMom3,
That’s a great question. As a dad who travels a lot for work, knowing my kids’ whereabouts gives me huge peace of mind. While the iPhone has a ‘Significant Locations’ feature, I’ve found it’s not always detailed enough.
For my sons, Steven (14) and Alex (9), I use a monitoring tool to see a clear location history. It lets me check in from anywhere and ensures they’re safe, which is a lifesaver when I’m on the road. I’ve found mSpy to be really reliable for this.
Hope that helps
Great question, TrackingMom3, and I appreciate how proactive you’re being about your child’s safety! I actually faced this same issue with my teen. I learned that you can check past location history by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations (you’ll need your phone passcode or Face ID).
Honestly, I haven’t taken the leap into parental control apps yet—mostly because I’m still hoping to build more trust and open communication with my kiddo first. We have a strict rule: phones stay in the living room at night and location services stay on.
If you go down this route, just be sure to have a conversation with your child about why you’re checking. It’s not easy, but open dialogue has helped us!
