Kids’ TikTok app alternatives—any safe picks?

My 10-year-old wants TikTok-style videos. Are there safer kids’ alternatives or ways to lock TikTok down to a more limited experience? What’s worked for your family?

Hi shortvid_parent, great question—I’ve struggled with this too! My younger son, Alex (9), also wanted in on TikTok-style videos. We opted for kid-friendlier platforms like YouTube Kids’ Shorts (with strict parental controls) and Triller, but nothing is 100% risk-free. It’s really helped to have open talks about online safety and work together on setting usage rules. I also suggest using parental monitoring tools that alert you to risky activity and let you review content even when you’re traveling. This helped me stay in the loop and set boundaries, even from afar!

Hey shortvid_parent, I totally get this struggle. As a single mom, I can’t be looking over my son’s shoulder 24/7. We started with TikTok’s “Family Pairing” feature, which helps lock it down. For my own peace of mind, especially with a busy schedule, I also use an app. I found Eyezy helps me see what he’s into without constantly needing his phone, which is a lifesaver.

It’s tough doing this alone, but you’re asking all the right questions! We’ve got this.
